The Walt Disney World International College Program offers students the opportunity to work at the most magical place on earth. But that is not all, you aren't just working. You play, learn, explore, develop and network, all in the space of one summer!
Having done three summer programs, I have really come to discover the benefits of the programs and used them to develop my career further with the Disney Company.
During my first summer program in 2009 I fell in love with the role I was performing, and fell in love with being a 'cast member'. I soon realised the importance of networking, and found that managers were only to happy to help me on my way.
I was luckily accepted to participate again in 2010, in the same role. I was determined that I would try and 'plus' my experience from the previous year, and really try and expand my knowledge of the company and challenge myself. During my second program I volunteered for the 'Give Kids the World' scheme, and had the chance to visit the village and meet the guests on the scheme. This was such an honour, and very heart warming to see how much Disney gives back.
Once I was accepted onto my third program I was in my final year of university, so understood this would be my final one, and what a finale it was! During my program in 2011, all my networking at Disney was paying off. The connections and relationships I built with fellow cast members and managers began to help develop my dream career into a reality. I had the chance to learn some exciting performance roles during my final program and I also had to chance to share my experiences on the International College Recruitment video for 2012 applicants! After I finished my program, I was offered an entertainment position aboard the Disney Cruise Line, all thanks to the programs and the experience I gained through them.
Yummy Jobs helped me every step of the way. They were there to support me and offer advice. I always knew that I was just a phone call away from a friendly "Hello Chris!" from the office. I felt that Yummy Jobs not only made sure my pre-employment paperwork was completed quickly (and correctly!) but they really did care about me as a person, and not just a number. I can't thank Yummy Jobs enough for the opportunities they have presented, and I know they will continue to help people form careers with their amazing work opportunities worldwide.
My advice for anyone considering applying? Do it... this truly is an unforgettable experience. Yes, it's hard work. Yes, it isn't going to make you rich. But the memories will last a lifetime and you will not regret a second. There is a saying at Walt Disney World "if you can dream it, you can do it" - pretty much says it all really... see ya real soon!
