Yummy Jobs Testimonials

Linda Bloxham

Merchandise

Cultural Representative Program

My name is Linda Bloxham and I live in the UK.  I had visited Walt Disney World many times on holiday and always left the UK Pavillion in Epcot Park feeling incredibly jealous of the cast members that they had 'the best job in the whole world'.  During my last holiday there I spoke to our server in the Rose & Crown Pub who told me about the 12 month Program. I read all of the information on the Yummy Jobs website when I got home which got me even more excited and I completed my application. After making it through the telephone interviews I went to the face to face interviews in London where I met the Yummy Team and the Disney Recruiters who were so welcoming and helpful.  After the interview day I had a nervous wait but it was all worth it when I received my offer of a place in Merchandise from Hannah.  The Yummy Jobs Team helped me sort everything and it felt so comforting to know that a whole team of people were there to give me any help I needed - and they're all so friendly and that makes all the difference!  Before my program started they put me in touch with fellow Cast Members that were going to be arriving at the same time as me so we felt we were already a little family before we got there.

On 8th June 2010 aged 39 I boarded my flight, very excited and a little nervous but very quickly settled into life in my apartment with my Japanese room mate with whom I shared stories of our cultures and had many a discussion that began with "what's that you're eating?"  The complex had a swimming pool and a gym and my apartment had everything I needed.

My fellow cast members and all of my Leaders and Co-ordinators were supportive and friendly and despite being the oldest Cast Member in the Pavillion, I was welcomed to all of the social events and very quickly had so many friends from all corners of the globe.  I loved the bus journey to work - everyone in their bright costumes all chattering in different languages - our own little 'World Showcase'. The job - I still chuckle to myself when I say the word job - was amazing.  I spent my working day helping guests with their purchases, chatting with them about where they were from and where I was from and sharing their experiences of meeting Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.  Disney was a fantastic company to work for and since coming back to the UK I have realised how much other companies are interested to see it on my CV.

During my program I had so many great experiences and made the most of having free entry into all the Disney Parks on my days off.  A very special memory for me was New Year's Eve.  I worked till late so I got to enjoy all of the amazing firework displays and soak up the atmosphere which I will never forget.  As I left after a long day, Disney had provided hot food and a drink for all the Cast Members.  They do so much to make you feel appreciated.  I've never known a company like it.

So, now I'm back I'm spending lots of time keeping in touch with everyone and we've got a reunion soon!  The decision I need to make now is what Yummy Jobs adventure to apply for next.  If you're reading this because you're considering applying I would say without hesitation 'do it'!  It has been the most amazing experience of my life!

J1 Academic Program

In October 2009 I met the representatives of The Walt Disney Company and Yummy Jobs in The Hague in The Netherlands during an information session about the Disney College Program.  After that information session I got invited for an immediate interview and the process was started.

In December 2009 I received the message that I was accepted for an internship with The Walt Disney Company. How excited was I? Really excited.

During the process I received a lot of information from Yummy Jobs and if I asked a question by email they responded with me immediately. Again, again and again.

During my internship I was located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and worked there as a Front Desk Cast Member. I lived at Vista Way Apartments, one the four Disney's apartment complex properties. There are at least 7000 students from all over the world living on those properties. On my arrival day I got a warm welcome “home” greeting of the Disney Team.

Overall I have had an amazing time, a time to never forget. Thanks to Yummy Jobs!

Disney's Hilton Head Island Summer Program

Working for Disney has always been a dream. Ever since I was little, I always wanted to go to Disney, meet Prince Charming and dance with dance with goofy. Little did I know I would actually get an internship with Disney many years later and fulfil part of my dream. The idea of working for Disney first propped into my mind when one of my best friend’s completed the internship a year earlier, lifeguarding at the Contemporary Resort. Through looking at her photos and listening to her experiences, the magical Disney moments were immediately portrayed and I essentially wanted to live and provide the “magic” too. After applying on the yummy jobs website, passing the interviews, and being offered a place at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, I was already set for my magical summer.
I flew out to South Carolina on the 1st of June, and arriving at the airport I was immediately “welcomed home” by one of Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort‘s cast member. I was then taken to my apartment block, which I shared with three other girls from the UK, two of which worked for one of the other resorts on the island, and the other girl working for Disney.
The following day I was introduced to the managers at the resort and was given a brief description of the anthology behind the resort. I was also shown around and introduced to my fellow cast members at the front desk. They were all amazing, enthusiastic and most of all, they made me feel welcomed. The next day I carried out Traditions which was a vital component of Disney. Thus, I gained an in depth knowledge of the Disney company and Walt Disney’s aspirations. After completing all the necessary training, I became an official cast member and embarked on my role as a front desk cashier. Essentially, my role was to welcome guests and check guests in, book golf tee times and answer guest’s phone calls. This role was fantastic. I got to make so many magical memories for guests when they checked in, and also got to talk to many different guests from different backgrounds. My fellow cast members at front desk were very helpful too when I needed assistance or help of any sort.
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort was located on a very small island but it still displayed many of the characteristics you would expect at a Disney resort. It didn’t have any rides, roller-coasters… but the work and daily activities carried out by the recreational department provided the magic just the same as any Disney Resort. Each and every cast member at the resort was fantastic and the “relaxation” theme of the resort was portrayed through the guests and cast members attitudes.
Although I was based in South Carolina, I was still given the opportunity to travel down to Orlando and visit the parks. We were taken down by the human resources team on one occasion, and got to stay at the Yacht and Beach Club which was amazing. This was my first ever time at Disney in Florida, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The whole atmosphere at the parks was amazing and memorable. Each cast member displayed the Disney basics and I was instantly proud to be employed by the Walt Disney Company. In addition, I was given the opportunity to travel to Orlando twice more with the other British interns. We also got to visit Savannah and Charleston. This was another magical moment for me as I always wanted to see the historical areas of the South.
Personally, I feel working for Disney has opened many opportunities for me. It’s hard to imagine what to expect, but I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I met many new friends through the program, from many different areas of the world such as Mexico, Canada, America and of course the UK. The friendships you make are unique and ones you don’t want to lose. Yummy jobs were of amazing help through the process, especially Hannah London, whom helped with all my questions, queries and provided me with this fantastic opportunity. So, thank you, Hannah.

Cultural Representative Program

I live in Canada and worked as a Cultural Representative in the Canadian Pavilion in Epcot. Working at Le Cellier Steakhouse was a great way for me to meet people from all over world whether it involved serving food or just interacting with guests at a front of the house position. I learned so much about the different cultures of the world. I was living with a girl from Hong Kong and she tought me so much about her ways of life. She's never lived in a house before, only in an apartment on the 48th floor of a skyscraper! This is just one example of many!
I've gained so much knowledge and experience on this program, I know it will take me a long way !

I would highly recommend this program to anyone. It's great for people who are adventurous, social and who obviously love the Walt Disney Company. This program helped me be independant and helped me learn so much about myself and my future goals. It's also a great way to make connections around the world!

I'm just wanting to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work in Walt Disney World. This truly was the best experience of my life so far. I am sad to be home but it is, at the same time nice seeing everyone again!

Disney's Summer Work Experience

My name is Chelsea Pugliese and I live in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. This past summer I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to participate in the International College Program. I had the time of my life working main entrance merchandise and stroller rental at Animal Kingdom Park (although you can ask almost any cast member and they will tell you that working at Disney really doesn’t feel like much of a “job” at all!). Being one of the first cast members to welcome guests into the park and wave a Mickey hand “see ya real soon!” each and every day was truly magical. Not only did I get to help make the magic happen, but I was able to carry on Walt Disney’s dream in a very special way by educating guests young and old about the importance of animal and habitat conservation, which is an issue I myself am extremely passionate about.

Going into the program and it being my first time living away from home (and not only that, but living in another country!) made me a bit nervous at first, but ‘Yummy Jobs’ was there every step of the way to answer any and every question I had, which really helped make the transition easy. Without a doubt, I can honestly say I don’t think I would have been able to do it without them!

Although I loved each and every minute of my time in Florida, my favourite part about the program was meeting cast members as well as guests from all over the world. It was especially awesome to meet families from my hometown!  I still remain in close touch with many former cast members and I am proud and priviledged to call them my forever friends.  My only complaint is that three months just wasn’t long enough! There is so much to see and do all the time, which doesn’t leave much to miss home, but makes the time fly by and before you know it, the experience is over!

Friends and family love asking questions and are always so excited to learn more about the program; and being so proud of my work as a past cast member, if there’s one thing I never tire of, it’s sharing the magic and my Disney experience with others. With such eagerness and excitement to continue making the magic happen, I am currently in the process of planning my next Disney adventure, hoping to return later this year to participate in the Cultural Representative program where I would have the privilege to be one of the many Ambassadors for the country I am so proud to call home.

For three incredible months I not only helped make guests dreams come true, but thanks to ‘Yummy Jobs’ and Disney, I got to live out my own dream too!  Take my advice: if you love Disney and you’re looking for the experience of a lifetime, don’t let this opportunity pass you by!  Apply now and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Disney Summer Work Experience 2010

I cannot say thank you enough for the amazing opportunity I had working for Disney this summer. I never thought it was possible for me to work for Disney especially in Florida! It was one of the best experiences of my life and I will never forget it. I met so many people from all over the world and helped make the dream come true for the guests. Yummy Jobs is a brilliant company and so very helpful. I hope in the future I can return to Disney or work abroad somewhere else through Yummy Jobs. I am truly thankful for this.

Disney Summer Work Experience 2009 and 2010

My name is Ariella and I live in Sudbury, Canada. I have been lucky enough to participate in two International College Programs at Walt Disney World. My first program I worked Custodial at the Magic Kingdom and on my most recent program I did Merchandise at Hollywood Studios.  Working at Disney is such an amazing experience, I’m so grateful for the chances I have had to do this program. The skills and training I have received have been really beneficial and I know working at Disney will help when it comes to my career.

Working at Disney is so much fun; it is hard to believe it is a job. Every single day my work location would change so I got to experience a lot of different work locations and environments during my time there. Everyone I worked with was so friendly and helpful. I got to meet and talk to so many guests from all over the world. Many of them were really interested in how I got the chance to work at Disney and wanted to know quite a bit about where I am from and what I am studying in school.  I was so happy during my second program when I got to work in Hollywood Studios, which is my favourite park. I ended up getting to work in the Backlands, which is a fairly large area of the Studios. I had three different costumes and got to work in the gift shops for Star Tours, The Muppets, and Indiana Jones. My first day of work after training was the beginning of the Star Wars Weekends which was such so much fun. One of my favourite memories from that time is getting to watch Hyperspace Hoopla, the closing festivities of the Star Wars Weekends.

Living in Disney housing was so much fun, there was always something to do and you got to meet a lot of people from all over the world. There never was a chance to get homesick since you were constantly busy.  There is always something to do on your days off whether it’s going to the parks or going to the beach for the day. I got to go to Cocoa Beach, Clearwater Beach and vacationed in South Beach while participating in the International College Program.

Doing the International College Program was my first time living outside of Canada and Yummy Jobs was so helpful throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend the International College Program to anyone who is looking for an amazing experience. Doing this program has changed my life and I want to thank Disney and Yummy Jobs for giving me the chance to participate in this program.

Disney Summer Program

My name is Rachel Childs and I live in Essex, England and this summer I went on a journey that not everybody can say they have experienced. I participated in the International College Program at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and wow how can I even begin to describe my awesome Disney adventure?

It all began after I happened to type into Google ‘Jobs at The Walt Disney World Resort ‘, and there it was the first result Yummy Jobs my future ticket to a magical and unforgettable summer of a life time. After finding out just before Christmas I got the job I was on countdown to June 2010, I was so excited to go I just couldn’t wait.
I was assigned to main entrance operations at Disney’s Blizzard Beach water resort, my role was a guest greeter and my job consisted of interaction with guests and handling the ticket system. Main entrance is a big responsibility, you are the first and last people the guests see when they spend a day at a Disney Resort. It was rewarding being able to socialise with people from across the world, and to see the happiness and excitement in the children’s and adult’s faces to be at Disney. To also know that you were a small part of their holiday and being able to add to their vacation by just wishing them a ‘Magical Day’ or providing a child with a Disney pin, or by calling them prince or princess, their little smiles said it all. My fellow cast members were fantastic, I felt right at home and part of the family.
In my ten weeks at Disney I have learnt and done so much, made so many amazing new friends for life, lived and loved the American way of living, and learnt a few things more about myself.
This experience is a must and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a one of a kind summer opportunity. Yummy Jobs were extremely helpful in regards to the paperwork, and with the Visa application. They were always on hand if you had any type of question, and sent out many emails to see how you were doing and getting along, very supportive and cooperative.
I’m already seeking my next Disney opportunity for 2011.......Thank you for everything Yummy Jobs.
‘I hope you all have a Magical Day!’

Life Guard

J1 Academic Program

I currently live in The Netherlands, but I am originally from China.  During this year I worked on the International College Program for the Summer 2010 as a Lifeguard in the Typhoon Lagoon water park.  During my program I loved the sunny weather, friendly fellows, and just the entire program was fantastic overall! I love Orlando and I love Disney World.   During my summer the best part of my role were the guests at Walt Disney World, especially when they thanked me for doing my job.

I would recommend this program because the endless learning, fun times, magic, and being able to perform that magical service to all the guests of Walt Disney World.   And would I recommend Yummy Jobs?  A Big YES!  Yummy Jobs provided me with a great guest service to help my Disney Dream come true!

Well, this is it! I'm leaving for Florida in 11 days - I can't believe it's finally here!

But before I go, I wanted to email you quickly to thank you for all that you've done for me!

It's been a long process, but you've been there for me every step of the way, and I truly appreciate it.

I've said time and time again that I'm very lucky that I have someone as wonderful as you helping me out in my adventures, and I'll say it again and again! Thank you for being so wonderful. Thank you for answering all my questions quickly and efficently, it means a lot to me!

I should take this moment to actually thank you.  Believe it or not I thought about you throughout my program and my trek back home.  You are there to answer our questions, network future cast members and organize all our paper work and then once we get to Disney the correspondence (descends).  I really appreciate all your hard work and the dedication you put into Yummy Jobs and Canadian/UK candidates to make our transition is as smooth as possible.  I am so grateful.

Cultural Representative Program 2009-2010

I took part in the Cultural Representative Program from February 2009 to April 2010 as the permanent assigner in the Rose and Crown in Epcot!  This was my second program (the first being the J1-Academic program) and even though I had doubts about it being as amazing as the first one, especially being in a different park in a totally different role, I can honestly say I've had the time of my life.  I've enjoyed being in WDW and making that famous Disney magic I was born to make!  I have also enjoyed meeting and living with participants from countries all over the world, and sharing my culture with them!  This has taught me that no matter how similar countries may seem, they differ immensely with regards to how they live.  And it has also given me many new friends!

The best part of my role has to have been the responsibility I was given and the respect of everyone I worked with.  As an assigner I decided where parties would sit, and as such I had to manage the restaurant floor.  Having never had this level of responsibility before, I was able to push myself further than I had ever been able to, and as the months went past I was able to challenge myself.  Working at the Rose and Crown was like working with family; it had its ups and downs but in the end we all got along and helped each other out.

I would definitely recommend this program to others.  It is nothing like I've ever done and you get to learn so much about yourself.  There are opportunities to become a trainer and learn a lot about The Walt Disney Company by taking classes and tours!  You meet people who will be friends for life and you get the chance to have fun whilst working hard.  And what can beat getting to watch Illuminations every night?

Yummy Jobs were absolutely a big help when I was preparing to get out here.  I'm not sure I would have managed it otherwise.  Their expertise with regards to the visa process was outstanding and the best thing was that I knew I could count on Yummy Jobs to be available when I had any questions.  Of which I had lots!  I would definitely recommend Yummy Jobs to anyone who asked; I can't imagine what the process would have been like without them!
All in all it has been an experience that I shall never forget.  And maybe one day an experience I shall repeat!

American Hotel Resort Program

After finding Yummy Jobs online I was thrilled to see opportunities to work at Walt Disney World, after applying for the International College Program my adventures began. I worked at the All Star Resort housekeeping. Although hard work, I enjoyed every minute of it. Living and Working for Disney opened my eyes to the opportunities available and after six months in Florida I returned to England wanting more.

I contacted Yummy Jobs once again and after a telephone interview and the visa process I found myself back in Orlando on a year contract working for the largest Marriott Vacation Club Resort. I worked front desk at The Marriott Grande Vista, the skills and knowledge I have gained have set me up for a great career in the hospitality industry.

Working and living in Florida was the best experience of my life to date. To wake up to Sunshine everyday was an added bonus!! I went knowing only a few friends from my previous experience and came back with a whole new family, I have made great friends and met many people from all over the world. I am much more confident, independent and a stronger person.

I would recommend Yummy Jobs to anyone interested in a life changing experience. I am now thinking about my next adventure and the plan is Australia!!

Thank you for all your help!

Yummy Australia

I feel very lucky that I took part in the Australian Internships program! Australian Internships showed me a whole new world, a world of diversity and of harmony between nations. I had the great opportunity to be integrated in a world-class hotel in Melbourne where I learned the Australian way of providing customer service. I gained invaluable new skills and became much more self-confident. But, the best thing about Australian Internships was that I was able to travel the world by living and training with people from around the globe. I learned so much about other cultures and how to respect everyone's differences. Finally I would say “The Australian Internships-your career starts here” has absolutely come true to me as because of this great opportunity I am standing at this stage from where I am able to choose my own destiny. This was an experience of a lifetime! I will never forget all the great times and friends that I have made.
