Cultural Exchange in Rhode Island

This amazing summer work and travel program provides international students with the opportunity to experience cultural exchange in Rhode Island, USA.  As a participant on this program you will spend your summer working for a world leading hospitality brand, Relais and Chateaxu.  Here, you will be located at one of the following properties;

  • Ocean House
  • Weekapaug Inn
  • Spicer Mansion
  • Watch Hill Inn

This unique opportunity will give participants an insight into hospitality at its best, offering you highly sought after experiences, along with the ability to share your culture and make friends for life.  

Participants will work in a variety of roles such as Food & Beverage Operations, Spa Attendants, Guest Reception, Retail Associates, Pool Attendants and Activities. Participants will be paid an hourly wage and will be guaranteed a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Participants on the program will be required to obtain a J-1 Summer Work and Travel visa through Yummy Jobs and will be able to work for a period of time as outlined by the Relais and Chateaux Group of properties.  Upon completion of the program, participants will have up to 30 days to travel within the United States.  Participants must then return to their home country upon completion of the program.

Applications for the Relais and Chateaux Program for Summer 2017 are now open!

  • The pre-screen interviewing process with the Yummy Jobs Team will commence from January 2017. If successful, applicants will then be invited to attend a final interview event with the Yummy Jobs Team and Relais and Chateuax representatives in February 2017
  • Applicants are required to be available for the full program dates in order to be considered. The program dates for 2017 will be from early June to mid-September 2017

Participants on the Relais and Chateaux International Program will be required to submit the following fees. 

Please note all fees are subject to change and may change without notice:

Program Fees

Full Placement Program Fee inclusive of visa sponsorship, medical insurance, SEVIS Fee and support £895.00 GBP (please note this program includes a pre-arranged job and pre-arranged housing)

Additional Fees for Summer 2017:

  • Criminal Background Check Fee - £80.00 GBP
  • U.S. Embassy Appointment Fee - $160.00 USD
  • Courier delivery of passport - Free to £30.00 GBP
  • Return flight to the United States - £300 to £600 GBP

Please note that you will be booked onto a group flight into the USA by the Yummy Travel Team.  This is a mandatory requirement of the program to ensure a safe and successful arrival into the USA.  Upon arrival into the United States you will be greeted by a Yummy Jobs Team and provided transportation assistance to your accommodation*

Participants will be required to pay a weekly housing rate which will be payroll deducted from your pay check. Housing will be located within close proximity to the work place and will be accessible by walking and/or public transportation.

 

OCEAN HOUSE

WEEKAPAUG INN

Reopened in fall of 2012 after a $20 million renovation, Weekapaug Inn is located in the peaceful community of Weekapaug, Rhode Island, with sweeping views of Quonochontaug Pond and the Atlantic Ocean just beyond. Inspired by classic Cape Cod style, the building is covered with red cedar shingles, accented by dark brown trim and red shutters. The property features 31 guest rooms, including four two-bedroom Signature Suites, with farm-to-table fine and casual dining, and boutique event space. In January 2013, just three months after opening, Weekapaug Inn was invited into the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.

SPICER MANSION

WATCH HILL INN

With a long and celebrated history, Watch Hill Inn has been a fixture in the Watch Hill community since 1845. While the Inn may be the oldest hotel in Watch Hill, you are sure to find comfort in all the modern conveniences that surround you throughout your stay. Renovated in 2014 under a new management team, Ocean House Management LLC, owners and operators of the Forbes Five-Star Ocean House and Four-Star Weekapaug Inn, Watch Hill Inn became a villa property associated with Ocean House. Designed for younger families and couples, and for those who prefer a more modern, contemporary feel, Watch Hill Inn is an ideal destination for those seeking longer lengths of stay as all 21 suites feature full kitchens and access to washers and dryers. The Inn is open May 1 through October 31.

Program Terms & Conditions

Participants on this work and travel program must;

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
  • Be currently enrolled in full time education, studying towards an undergraduate degree
  • Be available from mid June - mid September 2017
  • Have previous work experience in the hospitality, tourism or culinary arts industry
  • Live in the housing provided by Yummy Jobs for the duration of the program
  • Be willing to share a bedroom with one or two other program participants
  • Participate in cultural exchange activities during the program
