Summer Work and Travel in Orlando, USA

This amazing Summer Work and Travel program provides students with the opportunity to experience cultural exchange in Orlando, Florida, USA. As a participant on this program you will spend your summer working for a world leading hospitality brand, located at one of the five spectacular onsite Loews Hotels at the Universal Orlando® Resort. This unique opportunity will give participants an insight into hospitality at its best, offering you highly sought-after experiences, along with the ability to share your culture and make friends for life.

Participants will be provided with a range of benefits throughout their program, inlcudng free admission to both the Universal Studios® and Island of Adventures® theme parks (passes issued upon receipt of Social Security card. This can take up to 40 days after arrival on the program), along with great discounts on merchandise, food and beverage and park admission tickets for family and friends.

Participants on this program will be required to obtain a J-1 Summer Work and Travel visa through Yummy Jobs and will be able to work for a period of time as outlined by Loews Hotels.  Upon completion of the program, participants will have up to 30 days to travel within the United States. Participants must then return to their home country upon completion of the program.

On this program, you will spend your summer working in the heart of Orlando earning an hourly wage based on your job position. Participants will work in one of the following roles:

  • Lifeguard
  • Room Delivery Attendant
  • Quick Service Food and Beverage Attendant

Participants will be paid an hourly wage depending upon role and/or location. This ranges from $6.00 USD - $8.10 USD per hour for tipped positions, and between $9.50 USD and $10.75 USD per hour for non-tipped positions. Participants will be guaranteed a minimum of 32 hours per week, however typical work schedules will be 38-45 hours per week. 

Pre-arranged housing is provided by the Yummy Jobs Team for program participants. Accommodation costs will be automatically deducted from payroll and is fully inclusive of bills, Wi-Fi and grab-and-go breakfast daily. Housing is shared for the duration of the program, sharing with either one or two other program participants.

Housing is located at maximum 2 miles from your working location and is accessible by foot, taxi/Uber or bus. Participants will be required to pay a housing pre-payment fee 6 weeks prior to program arrival (to be confirmed for Summer 2018).

Successful applicants will be given selected flight options to book onto a group flight into Orlando, Florida by the Yummy Travel Team at STA Travel. This is a mandatory requirement of the program to ensure a safe and successful arrival into the USA. Upon arrival into the United States, you will be greeted by the Yummy Jobs Team and transportation will be provided to your housing.

  • Applicants are required to be available for the full program dates in order to be considered. For Summer 2018, the program dates are as follows:
    • ​Saturday 9 June 2018 - Sunday 9 September 2018

Interviewing Process

  • Final interviews with the Yummy Jobs Team will commence late November for positions over Summer 2018. Applicants will be required to attend a phone interview session with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team.
  • Offers for the program will be made in December 2017.

To participate in the Summer Work Travel USA program with the Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando®  Resort, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be currently enrolled in full time education within the U.K or Ireland, studying towards a foundation or undergraduate degree.
  • Have successfully completed at least one full semester of study before the program commences. Candidates can also participate on this program immediately following their final year of study.
  • Be available for the full program duration. The program runs from June - September each year.
  • Participate in cultural exchange activities during the program.

Participants on the Loews Hotels International Program will be required to submit the following fees: 

Program Fee:

£895.00 GBP = Full Placement Program Fee inclusive of visa sponsorship, medical insurance, SEVIS Fee, pre-arrival and arrivals support, pre-arranged job and pre-arranged housing.

Additional Fees for Summer 2017:

  • Criminal Background Check fee = £85.00 GBP
  • U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
  • Courier delivery of passport = Free to £30.00 GBP
  • Return flight to the United States = £300 to £600 GBP (approximately) - Flight options provided by the Yummy Jobs Team
  • Housing pre-payment = TBC (this is a down payment which helps to lower the weekly rent cost and secures housing for the summer)

Post-Arrival Fees:

  • Accommodation costs per week = TBC for 2018
  • Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
