Program Summary

WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A ROOMS DIVISION PROGRAM WITH THE SHERATON AND W HOTELS, WITH START DATES IN AUGUST 2018! 


New for 2018! This exciting program in the heart of bustling New Orleans will give Hospitality students and professionals the chance to develop their skills in Rooms Division whilst experiencing the dynamic cultural aspects that New Orleans has to offer. 
 
On this 12-month Rooms Division program, you will get to work in a hotel that provides spacious, stylish hotel rooms and suites and enjoy the proximity to the French Quarter's array of notable attractions. Wander down historic cobblestone streets, linger over live jazz music, sip on a cool drink on Bourbon Street or sample inventive Louisiana cuisine in the area's many nearby restaurants.

This program provides a unique insight into the business practices that contributing to the running of a successful and well-known hotel. Sheraton & W currently provides on-the-job training exposure in the following hospitality roles:

  • Rooms Division

Program participants will be paid an hourly wage of $12.00 per hour, and will be provided with at least 32 hours work per week. 

Whilst on a 12-month Internship with Sheraton & W, program participants will be given a range of opportunites to develop their industry experience, rotating through different hotel operations role every 2-3 months. Whilst on Front Desk and Concierge, participants will be responsible for processing all guest check-ins by confirming reservations, assigning rooms, and issuing and activating room keys. Participants will also be responsible for processing all payment types such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit, as well as guest check-outs

Participants will also experience working with Housekeeping team to track readiness of rooms for check-in, along with communicating parking procedures to guests/visitors and dispatch bell staff or valet staff as needed. Running daily reports (number of arrivals, departures), identifying any special requests, checking reports for accuracy, completing designated cashier and closing reports in the computer system, and counting banking at the beginning and end of shift are also daily tasks that will be required during this program.

THE W HOTEL - FRENCH QUARTER

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 INTERN, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be currently enrolled in full-time education at a University outside of the United States.
  • Studying towards an undergraduate degree in a Tourism, Hospitality or Events related subject OR have graduated from these studies no more than 12 months prior to your program start date.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 TRAINEE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be a graduate from an undergraduate degree in a Tourism, Hospitality or Events related subject PLUS at least one year of related work experience in this industry. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 
  • If you have not studied at University level, you must have at least five-years work experience in the tourism/hospitality industry to qualify. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 

APPLICATION DATES

  • Applications for the Sheraton & W Hotel for 2018/2019 are now open!
  • Applicants are required to be available for a full 12-month contract in order to be considered.
  • We currently have start dates available in August 2018.

INTERVIEWING PROCESS

  • Pre-screen interviews with the Yummy Jobs Team will take place via Skype. Applicants will be required to attend an interview with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team in order to be considered.
  • If successful, applicants will then be invited to a final interview with a member of the Sheraton & W Hotel team via Skype.

Participants on the Sheraton & W Hotel Internship and Training Program will be required to submit the following fees:

PROGRAM FEE

£2,250.00 GBP - 12-month full Placement Program Fee inclusive of Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, Pre-arrival and Arrivals Support, Pre-arranged Job and Pre-arranged Housing.

ADDITIONAL FEES FOR 2018

  • Criminal Background Check fee = £85.00 GBP
  • U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
  • U.S Sevis Fee = $190.00 USD
  • Courier delivery of passport = Free to £30.00 GBP
  • Return flight to the United States = £300 to £600 GBP (approximately)

POST ARRIVAL FEES

  • Weekly accommodation costs = Varies (candidates are responsible for sourcing own housing)
  • Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
