Old Edwards Inn and Spa sits atop the scenic southwest plateau of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, offering abundant opportunities for relaxation, recreation and adventure. The European style resort cascades along several blocks filled with amenities, music, dining venues and individually appointed guestrooms, suites and cottages.
 
Old Edwards has very high standards of service and hospitality. On this program, you will experience hospitality at its finest and training like no other working at this Relais and Châteaux property. The company carefully selects team members who understand how to cater to every need of a luxury hotel guest without being obtrusive. However, Old Edwards also delivers an authentic service since they are a wellness resort where guests come to "let their hair down" and relax.

The Old Edwards Inn and Spa Program provides university students with the opportunity to train in the United States during their Summer break. This Program provides access to a AAA Four Diamond property, providing a unique insight into business practices that make Old Edwards Inn & Spa the #14 resort in the USA (Travel & Leisure Awards, 2017). 

Whilst on this program, participants will get to develop their experience working in one of the following positions:

  • Food and Beverage Operations (Rotational Role - Host/ess, Server, Busser, Food Runner)
  • Spa/Pool and Leisure Attendant

Participants will be guaranteed an hourly wage of at least $10.00 USD per hour (including tips for F&B positions) and will be guaranteed a minimum of 32 hours per week, however typical work schedules can be 35-40 hours per week. 

Fully-furnished housing is provided by Old Edwards Inn and Spa, and will cost $90.00 USD per week (automatic payroll deduction). Participants will be required to share a room with one other person on the program, and housing is located a short walking distance from your work location. Upon arrival into the USA, you will be greeted by a member of the Old Edwards Inn and Spa team and transported to your housing.

Participants on the Old Edwards Inn training and internship program will be able to experience a range of unique cultural exchange activities. As part of your program, the Old Edwards Team will schedule several employee outings, from trips to nearby Atlanta for baseball games to Six Flags theme parks, the Old Edwards Team want to ensure you experience the American culture through a mixture of activites that enhance your international experience.
 
Participants on this program will be required to obtain a J-1 Intern or Trainee visa through Yummy Jobs and will be able to train for a period of time as outlined by Old Edwards Inn and Spa. Upon completion of the program, participants will have up to 30 days to travel within the United States.  Participants must then return to their home country upon completion of the program.

In addition to the training experience you will undergo with Old Edwards Inn, participants are able to increase their knowledge of and exposure to American culture, traditions and society. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to Atlanta, Georgia you will experience cultural exchange and an intern/training program that will enhance your hospitality career and make you a stand-out candidate upon return to your home country.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be currently enrolled in full time education within the U.K or Ireland, studying towards a Foundation, Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree.
  • Have successfully completed at least one full semester of study before the program commences. Candidates can also participate on this program immediately following their final year of study.
  • Be available for the full program duration. The summer programs run from June - September each year.
  • Students from Europe should contact the Yummy Jobs Team prior to completing an application for further eligibility requirements.

  • Applicants are required to be available for the full program dates in order to be considered. The program dates for Summer 2019 are:
    • Tuesday 11 June - Tuesday 17 September 2019

INTERVIEWING PROCESS

  • We aim to reach out to applicants within two weeks of submitting an application for the program.
  • If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an online video interview with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team.
  • If successful through the interview with YJ, candidates will then be invited to a final online video interview with a member of the Old Edwards Inn and Spa HR Team.

Participants on the Old Edwards Inn and Spa International Program will be required to submit the following fees:

PROGRAM FEE

£985.00 GBP - 3-month Full Placement Program Fee inclusive of Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, U.S SEVIS Fee, Background Check Application, Pre-arrival Support, Pre-arranged Job and Pre-arranged Housing.

ADDITIONAL FEES FOR SUMMER 2019

  • U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
  • Return flight to the United States = Varies

POST ARRIVAL FEES

  • Weekly accommodation costs = $90.00 USD per week (automatic payroll deduction)
  • Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
