The CEP Bake Off - Round 2!

2018 saw the return of the CEP Bake Off at Yummy HQ! It was a week filled with tasty treats and creative bakes on offer during our pre-screen interviews for the Disney Cultural Exchange Program for Summer 2019. It provided us the opportunity to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a highly valuable charity, along with giving candidates the opportunity to chat, relax during the event and show off their baking skills. It also provided the opportunity for our candidates to make friends with people they could be working and living with next summer in Orlando, Florida!

We have finally counted every penny and now can proudly announce that together we managed to raise a total of £721.45 during the week! Wow!! A MASSIVE Thank You from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who came along, baked, and of course contributed to this impressive sum! All the money raised has been donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, which we are sure will go a long way in helping them to achieve their mission of providing total care and fighting cancer.

We are so thrilled to not only beat but completely SMASH 2016’s record of £435.00, so again… a massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated! You are amazing!!

You may have seen us showcasing some of the treats on offer on our Instagram during the week; we were completely blown away by the standard of bakes that were created this year. They looked amazing and they all tasted incredible (we had to try them all right!?) 😊. It was a very difficult decision, however we wanted to share with you the team’s top 5 that we saw (and tasted) during the week!

5 – Mary Poppins Gingerbread Kites – These had to have a place in our top 5! They were the first bake of the week and they looked stunning on display. A collection of iced gingerbread Kites with strawberry lace string, individually wrapped and tied together with Ribbon, they looked the part and tasted delicious! Thank you, Aimee Button!

4 – Mickey Cake Pops – Look at these! They look like they have just stepped off Main Street USA! Beautiful on display and fun to eat, these cake pops were filled with a delicious moist chocolate cake filling. Thanks Imogen Ray, they were delightful!

3 – YJ T-shirt/Mickey Biscuits – We loved these biscuits from the moment we saw them, we would never be able to resist an “I heart YJ” biscuit. Carefully decorated and very yummy, we still have one on display in our office (although we are not sure how much longer it will last!) Thanks Emma Prentice!

2 – Minnie Macarons – These looked stunning… and tasted just as good! A tricky bake for sure – they were definitely the standard of a technical challenge on the Bake Off! Thank you, Maria Karandyszowska, all of the YJ team were won over by these treats!

1 – Winnie the Pooh and Friends Cupcakes – Wow, these were just incredible! A beautiful collection of chocolate cupcakes, stunningly decorated with a variety of Winne the Pooh items, including the characters themselves – yes, they are made from icing! Not only did they look amazing, they tasted delicious too! Congratulations on being our Star Baker of the week Hayley Dell – Thank You for bringing them along!
