The Biltmore Estate is famous in the USA for being the country’s largest privately owned residence, with an award-winning winery, a four star, four diamond Inn, and six full-service restaurants that feature produce and meats obtained from the estate itself. Not only this, but the Biltmore Estate welcomes over one million guests every year and prides itself on providing first class customer service and exceptional dining experiences.
 
As a Rooms Division Intern/Trainee on the Biltmore Estate program you will be exposed to all areas of hotel operations, allowing you the perfect opportunity to enhance your existing abilities, develop brand new skills and also challenge yourself all within the same 12-month program.

As a Biltmore Rooms Division intern, you’ll be exposed to Biltmore’s luxurious and award-winning hotels, and will be rotated (every 2-3 months) throughout the diverse accommodations on property in able to gain optimum training. Interns will train in all areas of the hotel rooms division environment and will be mentored by each location’s hotel management team. Knowledge and experience in Lodging will be gained in areas such front desk, PBX communications, valet dispatch, bell services, night auditing, Rev/PAR management and other areas of interest in the luxurious and world-renowned Inn on Biltmore Estate or Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate.  The Inn is continually one of Conde Nast top 100 hotels, and the new Village Hotel opened in December of 2015.
 
 

 

Participants on this program will be required to obtain a J-1 Intern or Trainee visa through Yummy Jobs and will be able to train for a period of time as outlined by Alisal. Upon completion of the program, participants will have up to 30 days to travel within the United States. Participants must then return to their home country upon completion of the program.
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC, the Biltmore Estate welcomes over 1 million guests each year. The 8,000 acre estate includes the Biltmore House and gardens (America’s largest privately owned home), an award-winning winery, a 4-Star 4-Diamond Inn, a family-friendly Hotel, exceptional dining, outdoor activities, and much more!
 
Participants in the Biltmore Internship programs get the opportunity to sharpen their culinary, hospitality, and guest relation skills at America’s largest home! Biltmore’s training programs give participants a chance to challenge themselves and develop their skills in many different cuisines and settings. The Biltmore Estate is home to 6 full-service restaurants whose menus feature fresh produce and meats from the estate itself, as well as wines from the award-winning winery. Many of the restaurants are “green certified” and have an extensive sustainability program including canola production, solar energy and various field to table production/agricultural programs
Housing for this program is provided by the Biltmore Estate, you will be housed with fellow program participants in a fully furnished house or apartment complex. Housing is payroll deducted at a rate of $100.00 USD per week inclusive of all utilities, swimming pool and WiFi.
 
Transportation to and from work is optional and is charged at a rate of $10.00 USD per week.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 INTERN, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be currently enrolled in full-time education at a University outside of the United States.
  • Studying towards an undergraduate degree in Hospitality or Tourism OR have graduated from these studies no more than 12 months prior to your program start date.


TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 TRAINEE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be a graduate from an undergraduate degree in Hospitality or Tourism or  PLUS at least one year of related work experience in this industry. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 
  • If you have not studied at University level, you must have at least five years of work experience in the culinary industry to qualify. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 
APPLICATION DATES
  • Applications for the Biltmore Estates Program for 2019 are open.
  • Applicants are required to be available for a full 12-month contract in order to be considered.
  • We currently have various start dates available in 2019.
INTERVIEWING PROCESS
  • Interviews with the Yummy Jobs Team will take place via Skype. Applicants will be required to attend a pre-screen interview via Skype with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team in order to be considered.​
  • If successful, applicants will be required to attend a final interview with the Waldorf Astoria HR Team via Skype.

Participants on the Biltmore Estates Internship and Training Program will be required to submit the following fees (after acceptance of an offer):

PROGRAM FEE

£2,600.00 GBP - 12-month full Placement Program Fee inclusive of Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, U.S SEVIS Fee, Pre-arrival Support and Pre-arranged Job.

ADDITIONAL FEES FOR 2019

  • U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
  • Return flight to the United States = Varies

POST ARRIVAL FEES

  • Weekly accommodation costs = Varies
  • Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
