Old Edward's Inn and Spa sits atop the scenic southwest plateau of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, offering abundant opportunities for relaxation, recreation and adventure. The Old Edwards Inn Culinary Training Program provides university students and young professionals with the opportunity to train in the United States for a period of up to 12-months. This Program provides access to a AAA Four Diamond property, providing a unique insight into business practices that make Old Edwards Inn & Spa the #14 resort in the USA (Travel & Leisure Awards, 2017).
 
During a Culinary Internship with Old Edwards Inn, you will be provided with on-the-job exposure in the following rotations:
  • Grill Station/Hot Line
  • Kitchen Leadership/Purchasing/Storeroom
  • Pastry Operations
  • Garde Manager
Program participants will earn $12.00 USD per hour and will be scheduled a minimum of 32 hours work per week.
 
Fully-furnished housing is provided by Old Edwards Inn and Spa and will cost $150.00 USD per week (automatic payroll deduction). Participants will be required to share a room with one other person on the program, and housing is located a short walking distance from your work location. Upon arrival into the USA, you will be greeted by a member of the Old Edwards Inn and Spa team and transported to your housing.

Participants on this program will be required to obtain a J-1 Intern or Trainee visa through Yummy Jobs and will be able to train for a period of time as outlined by Old Edwards Inn and Spa. Upon completion of the program, participants will have up to 30 days to travel within the United States.  Participants must then return to their home country upon completion of the program.

In addition to the training experience you will undergo with Old Edwards Inn, participants are able to increase their knowledge of and exposure to American culture, traditions and society. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to Atlanta, Georgia you will experience cultural exchange and an intern/training program that will enhance your hospitality career and make you a stand-out candidate upon return to your home country.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 INTERN, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be currently enrolled in full-time education at a University outside of the United States.
  • Studying towards an undergraduate degree in Culinary Arts OR have graduated from these studies no more than 12 months prior to your program start date.


TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AS A J-1 TRAINEE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be available for a 12-month contract.
  • Be a graduate from an undergraduate degree in Culinary Arts PLUS at least one year of related work experience in this industry. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 
  • If you have not studied at University level, you must have at least five-years work experience in the culinary industry to qualify. This experience must have been obtained outside of the United States. 

APPLICATION DATES

  • Applications for the Old Edwards Inn and Spa Program for 2018/2019 are open.
  • Applicants are required to be available for either a 6 or 12-month program in order to be considered.
  • We currently have positions commencing in 2018, as well as throughout 2019.

INTERVIEWING PROCESS

  • Applicants will be required to attend a pre-screen interview via Skype with a member of the Yummy Jobs Team.
  • If successful, applicants will be required to attend a final interview with the Old Edwards Inn and Spa Team via Skype.

Participants on our Culinary Internship with Old Edwards Inn and Spa will be required to submit the following fees (after program acceptance):

PROGRAM FEE

Fully Sponsored - No Program Fee! - Old Edwards provide full-scholarship for their Culinary Training Program. This covers Visa Sponsorship, Medical Insurance, U.S SEVIS Fee, Pre-arrival Support and Pre-arranged Job.

ADDITIONAL FEES FOR 2019

  • U.S. Embassy appointment fee = $160.00 USD
  • Return flight to the United States = Varies

POST ARRIVAL FEES

  • Weekly accommodation costs = $150.00 USD per week (automatic payroll deduction)
  • Additional supporting funds between $350.00 - $750.00 USD are recommended
