Mark's Yummy Story at the WDW Swan and Dolphin Resort!
My 12-month Internship at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort exceeded all expectations and I can now reflect on the most rewarding year of my life!
From the initial application through to my final days of work, everyone I came into contact with (both through Yummy Jobs and Marriott Hotels) were extremely helpful and motivated me to reach my full potential. Participating on this program exposed me to all aspects of the front office operations and allowed me to be a more complete employee with a greater understanding of the hotel industry. My rotation involved working in guest services, concierge and the front desk but I was so eager to learn that I even spent time helping out the housekeeping, controlling social media, and shadowing the human resources department!
The hotel was fantastic for allowing me to explore these personal interest opportunities, and it allowed them to move me about to meet their own business needs. My fellow J1s were similarly flexible and it felt great to be part of such a dynamic team. As well as improving me professionally, the program allowed me to network with people from all over the World and make friendships which will last a lifetime.
Words cannot do justice to how rewarding this program was for me, and I would recommend it to anyone – a huge thank you to Yummy Jobs and The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort for making it all possible. Since finishing his program, Mark has joined the YJ Team, now helping others begin their adventures in the U.S!
