Hamza's Placement with the WDW Swan and Dolphin Resort

2017 was a year I’ll never forget. I gained a valuable experience in the early period of my career. I went to Orlando with set expectations, goals and thoughts to develop my interpersonal and social skills in a different cultural environment. There is no doubt in saying that this enriching exchange program gave me much more than I had expected. It has given me priceless memories that I will cherish in the years to come!

Working in an esteemed WDW Swan & Dolphin Resort and Hotel full-filled my expectations to develop my professional skills. The cast members were also such a joy to work with as they were motivating, encouraging and appreciative throughout the time I worked with them. I was fortunate that I was a part of this team that worked with such harmony at critical days when Massive groups like Gartner would visit with around 10000 people in the Epcot area and still we would be able to deliver impeccable customer service. The managers proved to be great teachers and mentors as they helped me in my professional growth and enabled me to overcome difficulties and telling me to think outside the box, which led me to be promoted to a Housekeeping supervisor in my last 3 months of my program

Apart from professional experience, my stay in Florida has been very exciting. I explored many new places and made new friends. The Walt Disney World Resort itself was a great recreational place. Whenever I visited my experience was different. I was also lucky enough to visit places like Miami, Georgia, Washington D.C and the city that never sleeps, New York. I was just bedazzled in Times Square and had the most unique culinary experience. I can also not forget the time Irma (Hurricane) hit Florida. Nevertheless the occurrence of it was frightening but I saw how the Orlando community came forward and helped each other in this hour of need.

The opportunity provided by Yummy Jobs was like no other and I urge every young hotelier to go through this program and indulge yourself in a place with such vast amount of cultural diversity. The Swan and Dolphin Resort is the epitome of Hospitality and there is no better place to challenge you, and your skills where happiness is guaranteed 24/7, 365 days a year! - Hamza Rasheed, 2017 Intern
