Vinnie's Culinary Q&A
Vinnie is a current participant on our 12-month Culinary Internship with Loews Hotels. He is positioned at the beautiful Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, based within the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida! Read below for our Q&A session with Vinnie and check out what he has to say about his Culinary Internship in the USA!
What has been your favorite moment on the program so far?
My favorite part about my Culinary Internship are my colleagues and friends accepting me for who I am, and the team at Loews Hotels appreciating my work all the time.
Why would you recommend your program in particular?
This place is amazing! You will learn a lot - whether it’s your first internship in the USA or not, I’m sure you will not be disappointed working at the Loews Hotels Universal Orlando Resort, with such talented people around.
What is the most useful thing that you have learnt so far?
To be patient. Which I have always been, that’s how I can learn a lot of things and achieve them slow and steady. Also, to work smart and use my initiative in my role.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about applying?
Don’t be nervous! Be passionate about what you want to do, people are very nice here and the team at Loews are always there to help you out. If you’re a person who wants to learn, make great friends amazingly quick this is the place for you! The most important thing is you have to be flexible with working hours and be ready to get the job done.
What is your favourite thing to do in your free time?
I love exploring things around Orlando - going to the Universal Orlando theme parks which are right next to me with my team member pass. I also love hanging out with my friends from work.
What is your favorite thing about the living experience?
You get to live with different nationalities and learn their amazing culture, and you will feel like you’re not missing home because you’re like a family here together.
Tell us about how you are embracing other cultures and sharing your culture with others?
I like learning about each culture - how they are, what they like and dislike and of course the food they eat! We may not have common taste, but we appreciate each other and learn a lot. We invite each other to experience our food and learn about it and also connect with families.
What do you hope that this opportunity will do for your future career/life?
I know that whatever I’m learning during my Culinary Internship with Loews Hotels, in the future I will make use of it and be proud that I worked at the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, as it has always been my dream job.
